Top seed David Ferrer breezed into the last four following his comprehensive defeat of wildcard Igor Sijsling. The 30-year-old needed just 43 minutes to complete the quarterfinal effort, 6-0, 6-1. Ferrer, through to his seventh semifinal of the season, lost just 3 points on serve during the match.
He will take on Benoit Paire for a place in the championship final. The Frenchman dismissed Japan’s Tatsuma Ito in the quarterfinal, 6-3, 7-5.

World No. 95 Xavier Malisse booked his third straight semifinal at the UNICEF Open, having held on to upend Gilles Muller on Thursday. The Belgian converted four of 5 break points en route to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 victory in 87 minutes. He ended the quarterfinal with 37 of 46 first-service points captured.
Malisse is scheduled to face qualifier Philipp Petzschner in the next round. The German beat France’s Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the quarterfinal, 6-4, 7-6(4).
