Hewitt still a hope for the grass court season

Grand Slam winner Lleyton Hewitt might just be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat on grass this summer.

Australian Olympic tennis coach Todd Woodbridge hopes his veteran ace can start his summer on the lawns with a respectable showing at Wimbledon.

Hewitt returned to tennis at the French Open and then followed up on grass at Queen's Club, losing both matches as he started playing again after a foot operation in February. The 2002 Wimbledon winner is ranked a distant 202 and is playing the All England club on a wild card a decade after his title there.

Woodbridge, while not expecting a miracle from the 31-year-old warrior, could be pleasantly surprised all the same. Hewitt won his last match at the Australian Open six months ago, but is hardly ready to give up his career.

"If he gets it going (at the Games), if he gets a bit of form then he has the potential to do well," said Woodbridge. "Is he a medal favourite? Not based on his ranking and his injury status, but he's not going to rock up there to be a number."
